Best College Bar{re} in Town

We love so many things about the South Bend/Mishawaka/Granger area, but right at the top of the list is that it’s such a fabulous college town. Our local colleges and universities bring so much to our hometown: opportunities for lifelong learning, football Saturdays, beautiful campuses to explore, and–best of all–interesting people from all over the world who come here to work and study. Plenty of area college students have found their way through our doors over the years, and though they may only be here for a short time, these young women are a valuable part of the B Present community.

New Year, New You: B Present Group Wellness Coaching

Something about flipping the calendar to a brand new year makes all of us step back for a moment and re-evaluate where we are and where we want to be. (In northern Indiana in December, the literal answer to that question is “at the beach.” Always.)

Getting on track with diet, exercise, and overall health & lifestyle takes the perennial top spot on lists of New Year resolutions; it’s so common it’s practically a cliché. Also cliché? Falling off the wagon by March and having to make the same resolution again next year!

B Present Studio’s mission has always been to serve the whole you: mind, body, and spirit. Sometimes that means taking a respite from our day-to-day responsibilities and routines to reflect and recharge. It was with that in mind that the studio organized our very first wellness retreat to Costa Rica in January of 2016…

…and just a few weeks ago, our second wellness retreat of 2016 took us to the beautiful Red Mountain Resort in St. George, Utah. This award-winning resort property offered the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation: guided hiking and biking excursions, a huge variety of fitness classes, a full-service spa, swimming pools, gorgeous scenery, and three healthy (and seriously delicious) meals per day. Meet the Barre Beauty: Lucy B.

If you’ve been hearing about B Present Studio for awhile now but have yet to try a class, you’re in good company: that’s exactly how Lucy’s journey started too. “I first heard about B Present through our neighbors and had always wanted to try it out, but I was always in golf season, or recovering from some type of surgery,” says Lucy, who was then a high school senior. But when her mom came home from her first class in February of 2016 raving about her newfound love for the barre, Lucy finally had to take the plunge. “I was determined to recover from my latest surgery and get cleared to try a class before I headed off to school!” And as any barre addict knows, trying “just one class” is usually only the beginning… Continue reading “Meet the Barre Beauty: Lucy B.”

Meet the Barre Tender: Kara B.

Kara B. is one of three (!) instructors named Kara at B Present Studio. She’s a veteran of the fitness industry with twenty years of experience teaching group fitness, and has been teaching at B Present since 2013.

How did you first get into the fitness industry?

I was always involved in athletics; I ran cross country and track and was a cheerleader in high school. I also ran cross country and track my freshman year in college, and it was an awesome experience, but there are so many other new things to explore in college. So at that point I transitioned from always just running to try something different. I found a step aerobics class at the local YMCA, and from that point fell in love with group fitness. When I went back to college my junior year, a small gym was opening and they asked if I wanted to teach aerobics there, and that was my first job in fitness. I think I made about $5 a class and it was mostly my sorority sisters that came to my class! Continue reading “Meet the Barre Tender: Kara B.”

2015 Year in Review

As 2015 winds down, we can’t help but marvel at what a ride it’s been at B Present Studio. It’s hard to believe that at this time last year, our team and our studio were about half the size that they are today.
