Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and we get it–you’re racking your brain trying to think of the perfect way to show your love and affection to your one and only. And after a few years together, it’s gotten a lot harder to come up with something original and creative. You want to do something different this year.

But before you take a page out of Monica and Chandler’s book and pledge to only give homemade gifts that you’ve crafted by hand…

It did not go well.

…maybe put down the glue sticks and breathe a sigh of relief because this year, B Present Studio has the perfect date planned for you and your Valentine. It’s….

Date Day at the Barre!

DateDayCalWe are so excited that we even wrote a poem to go with it:

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Get your butt to Love is @ the Barre Date Day
And your cutie (and your booty) will thank you!

(You can borrow that and write it inside the card for your sweetie if you want. It’s good, right? Eat your heart out, Hallmark.)

If you’re of the male persuasion, right now you might be thinking, “…a date at the barre? As in…I have to be there, too?” That’s right, gentlemen. Bust out your spandex and start stretching! 😉

We know that barre classes can be intimidating for men. Let’s face it–it is mostly women who come to our regularly scheduled classes. That’s why attending a Date Day is the perfect introduction (or excuse to come back) for the fellas: you can be assured that yes, other guys will be there.

If you’re still not sold, don’t take it from us–we asked several of our male clients to give it to us straight and tell us about their experiences so far at B Present. Without further ado, we give you…

Three Pretty Good Reasons That You, Dude Reading This, Should Give B Present a Shot

(According to Other Dudes)

1. You actually might not know exactly what it is.

Stretching, power yoga, holding poses, and ballet moves: these were some of the things that the guys told us they thought a barre class was before they tried one.

Some of them had no idea what kind of intensity to expect…

“I was expecting to fly through it barely out of breath.”  – Clinton

“Not sure what I was expecting, but it was definitely a more difficult workout than I thought it was going to be!” – Cody

Others had been warned.

“The intensity was a bit higher than I was expecting, but I had heard it was intense, so it wasn’t completely shocking.” – Adam

“I had heard enough stories from other guys about how surprised they were five minutes into class, so I had an idea of what I was in for. I was expecting to be sore.” – Daniel

Some of the guys were expecting the class to be breeze; others were prepared for a more intense workout. But overall, it seems that most guys walk in expecting the movements and exercises to be…well, girly. In reality, there’s nothing particularly feminine about our workouts. (Unless push-ups, plank holds, and burpees are girly–in which case, we think everyone should work out like a girl!)

2. We promise the ladies a great workout, and we promise you the same.

These particular guys are no slouches. Their normal exercise routines collectively include biking, hiking, weight lifting, cross training, HIIT, Olympic triathlons, P90X, and Crossfit. Nonetheless, they say that B Present brings the heat even for them.

“The most surprising part was how heavy a little 3-pound weight got in a hurry.” – Adam

“Without a doubt, the occasional barre class or date night is a harder and better workout than anything I do now. Last year I was planning a guys ski trip out west, so I did Barre On Demand to train for that so I could enjoy myself and not get injured while skiing.” – Daniel

“I sweat through my clothes three times over.” – Clinton

This is probably a good time to mention that while our workouts are designed to be challenging for all fitness levels, they’re also designed to be modifiable for all fitness levels. Don’t want to do any jumping? No problem. Need a break? Take it! This is a no-judgment zone, especially at Date Day when our studio is packed with newcomers. Our top priorities are having fun, laughing together, and spending quality time with our significant others. Which us brings us to…

3. This is a special place for the lady in your life, and she’d probably love to share it with you.

The men we talked to come from all walks of life, but they all have one thing in common: the women they love are part of the heartbeat of B Present. They spoke with so much pride and admiration about their wives, and marveled at the inner strength and confidence that these women have found here.

“To say that Gina enjoys going to B Present would be a big understatement. I have come to learn that the physical aspect is only a small piece of what she gets out of it. It sounds a bit strange, but the physical/emotional/spiritual connection, combined with the fact that many of her friends are there, almost make it a ‘church-like’ experience for her. (Plus her butt has never looked better, so Amen to that!)” – Cody

“Hayley gives 100% to everyone all day long. There was little time (if any) devoted to herself. With barre, that 60 minutes is for her and her only. This is something that everyone needs, especially someone like Hayley who puts others before herself. I’ve certainly noticed a new spark in her overall. She has also met a whole new group of friends through barre; it is amazing the how well she knows some of her fellow ‘barre beauties’ from quick five-minute conversations before and after class week after week. They are sharing pieces of each other’s journey through life, and supporting each other day in and day out. It resembles the camaraderie and commitment of a family and team.” – Daniel

Chances are, the barre beauty in your life would love nothing more than to show you the place that has come to mean so much to her. Whether this will be your first B Present Date Day or your twentieth, it’s sure to be a Valentine’s Day to remember. So break out of the chocolate-and-roses mold and this year, take your lover dover to the barre. Registration is open and space is limited, so sign up now!

(Oh, and by the way–right after class, we’ll all head to brunch for more laughs and fun! So if nothing else has persuaded you, there’s a Bloody Mary or a mimosa waiting for you on the other side.)
